De contra-indicaties omvatten, zonder daartoe beperkt te zijn, cricofaryngeale of oesofageale stenosen/stricturen, tortueuze oesofageale divertikels, (mogelijke) oesofageale perforatie, asymptomatische ringen of webben, stollingsstoornissen, actieve infectie in het slokdarmgebied, zoals oesofagitis, distale slokdarmtumoren, zwangerschap. Het gebruik van ligatiebanden is gecontra-indiceerd bij patiënten met overgevoeligheid voor latex en bij elke andere aandoening die anders een contra-indicatie zou vormen voor gastro-intestinale endoscopie.
The contraindications include without being limited to cricopharyngeal or oesophageal narrowing/stricture, tortuous oesophageal diverticula, known or suspected oesophageal perforation, asymptomatic rings or webs, coagulopathy, active infection in the esophageal area such as esophagitis, distal esophageal tumors, pregnancy. Use of ligation bands is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to latex and for any other condition which would otherwise contraindicate gastrointestinal endoscopy.
