For stents in 7 Fr, please proceed as follows:
- Choose the shape, diameter and length of the stent to be placed.
- Note: make sure to have on hands an application system with the same diameter as the stent selected (7 Fr).
- Remove the stent with its positioning sleeve and the application system out of their packaging.
- Over the guide wire, place the tapered distal extremity of the stent, followed by the application system and the positioning sleeve over the application system until the stent reach the entrance of the biopsy channel.
- Push the positioning sleeve forward over the proximal flap to lower it in order to protect it while inserting the stent and the rest of the device inside the biopsy channel.
- Note the positioning sleeve will stay out of the biopsy channel.
- To place the stent in the desired location, hold the guide wire with one hand while pushing the application system forward with the other hand until the stent is in place.
- Once the stent is placed, pull the guide wire back into the biopsy channel while holding the application system in place. After the complete removal of the guide wire, the stent will regain its original shape.
- Finally, remove application system out of the scope.
For stents removal, please proceed as follows:
- As the stent has been placed in the desired location with the proximal extremity appearing into the digestive system cavity, it can be removed by gently pulling it with a foreign body retriever forceps or a snare or even a basket.
- Once the stent has been pulled out remove it from the patient along with the scope and the removing device used.
