Kontraindikationerne omfatter, men er ikke begrænset til, cricopharyngeal eller øsofageal forsnævring/striktur, snoede øsofageale divertikler, kendt eller mistænkt øsofageal perforation, asymptomatiske ringe eller baner, koagulopati, aktiv infektion i øsofagealområdet såsom øsofagitis, distale øsofageale tumorer, graviditet. Brug af ligaturbånd er kontraindiceret hos patienter med kendt overfølsomhed over for latex og ved enhver anden tilstand, som ellers ville kontraindicere gastrointestinal endoskopi.
The contraindications include without being limited to cricopharyngeal or oesophageal narrowing/stricture, tortuous oesophageal diverticula, known or suspected oesophageal perforation, asymptomatic rings or webs, coagulopathy, active infection in the esophageal area such as esophagitis, distal esophageal tumors, pregnancy. Use of ligation bands is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to latex and for any other condition which would otherwise contraindicate gastrointestinal endoscopy.
